Comments about this video: my wife has a graves disease and she is pregnant, we really don't know what to do, since we have no much money, we most worry, is about the baby.. We are going to the doctor tomorrow, i wonder if you have any recommendations for us, we'll appreciated. hi, nice to see your channel. can this condition ( hypert ) can bring numbness and tingling in face/legs/feet/? can it bring balance problems? does this condition bring hair loss? or it is only for hypot?Hi, I'm 14 years old and I think I may have this disease. I have been getting anxiety and stress from school and I never seem to gain any weight even though I have a huge appetite. All of this started last year when I was bullied for being "too skinny". It caused me so much stress and then I got social anxiety. My hair is thin and always lacks volume and the back of my neck is so tense and it always hurts. The most annoying problem is that I sweat a lot from my armpits and it bothers me a lot.I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism 3 mos ago and the meds that I have been taking (methimazole for the 1st 6 weeks) were too much for my system. My joints ache and swell all the time; sometimes to the point where I cannot use my hands, lift my arms, or even make a fist. Now I am on PTU and experiencing the same thing. Next option acc to the dr is radioactive iodine therapy. Are there some herbal treatments that anyone has found to be successful, or at least make things more bearable? How do you tell the difference between hyperthyroidism and anorexia? I'm worried about my friend. She says she has hyperthyroidism, but I'm not convinced... Well, it of course is possible for someone to have both conditions at the same time, but the way to confirm whether she has hyperthyroidism would be with the blood tests. Typically you should see high thyroid hormone levels and a low TSH, although with subclinical hyperthyroidism the thyroid hormone levels might be normal, with the TSH low. Ok thanks :) She's had blood tests so I suppose it's hyperthyroidism... Although she could be lying. Still, thanks for the help.
After feeling horrible for a good few months, I went to the doctor for blood tests. Result came back that I was 'just slightly' into the 'over active thyroid gland' category. I asked him, did this have anything to do with the 'flu like symptoms' I've been feeling?,,,he didn't know. I told him I had become physically weak, very tired too every day, and asked was it connected...he didnt know. he's what we'd call an 'older' doc. seemed more concerned with my gallstones, that need taking out soon.
I have hyperthyroidism and its suck...its hard because sometimes my family, relatives, and friends don't understand that you tired all the times and lost weight because you can not eat.. I don't understand why RAI should be the last resort. I find it necessary. I mean, what can it do? I know it has side effects but don't many other drugs that exist in the world do as well? Hyperthyroid really confuses me. Supposedly, if decisions came down to RAI, it can damage the hormones and prevent the glands from ever producing the thyroid hormones? Is this true? Say if stress and the adrenal glands caused hyperthyroidism in the first place. If I completely removed stress from my life could my thyroid glands work properly again? It's possible, although if the stress caused problems with the adrenal glands then it would be necessary to restore the health of the adrenals. Plus, it's unlikely that you will be able to completely eliminate the stress, although you probably can do a much better job of managing it. While taking the medication is important to help manage the hyperthyroid symptoms, at the same time I think one needs to look into the underlying cause of the condition. The weight gain problems could be due to the medication, or there also could be an imbalance in the hormones estrogen and progesterone. So I would highly recommend speaking with a holistic doctor who focuses on endocrine disorders. This way they can recommend specific testing to determine what might be the cause.
Ordinarily, i would have been under the impression that radioactive treatment for thyroid conditions only apply for neoplastic causes of toxic nodules, and not just the phenomenal hyperplasticity for whatever cause, be it primary or secondary.
insufficient pathophysiologic connection between poor eating/refined foods and adrenal and thyroid pathology...statement is a little bold!
Thank you for this video :) I suffer from Graves disease myself and I take Propyl Thyracil to regulate it. My eyes were bulged out before but once I got on the medication, my eyes went back to normal within 2 or 3 weeks! GD does not run in my family that I know of. A few years ago before I got this disease, I had very poor eating habits and I was under a tremendous amount of stress. I know thats how I got GD. Im doing good now :) How is your health now? I bet it helps...not to much though...but weed helped me with my IBS after being bulimic...so it might help with this))). I suffer from an overactive thyroid T4 hormone and smoking marijuana makes my heart palputate and i get sharp pains in my chest. I'd avoid like the noid! XP.
I smoked an ounce to the head yesterday and my blood pressure is 120 or less and 70 or less and my pulse is around 80-100. Regarding use to be high because of hyperthyroidism.
I had already lost down to 82 pounds at 5 foot 8 and it was melting off by the day. I had 18 nodules on my Thryroid was unable to eat or drink hardly anything, I was literally at death's door. I had the RAI pushed in my face and with that I could have been tried on AntiThyroid meds but I was in such a state that my Endo made the decision for me I thought after RAI I would be back to normal and didn't know I would be on T4 for the rest of my life. I have't felt "right: since my gland STOPPED.
Sometimes RAI is necessary, and so considering the circumstances you were under I wouldn't have any regrets. However, just keep in mind that the RAI did nothing for the cause of the hyperthyroidism, and that even if you do need to take thyroid hormone on a permanent basis, there still is a chance to do some things to improve your overall health and feel much better than you are feeling right now. I've suffered over 11 years from stress and depression as well as not eating or eating too much junk but everytime i go to the doc theres no help apart from them offering me goddamn tablets which i know will mess my life up... i have been tested for thyroid but i read somewhere that there are a few tests to do and just one won't do, is this true? Well, you definitely want to receive the typical thyroid blood tests (TSH, Free T3 and Free T4, TPO and/or TSI, etc. But there are also other tests to help determine the underlying cause of the condition, such as an Adrenal Stress Index test, hair mineral analysis, hormone panel, etc.
as i said, please go away now. i have other things to do than listen to your rubbish. u are programmed by the system. u think you know it all while just listening and learning from big pharma propaganda. good luck,,!
I try to stay away from soy products and not eat alot of sugary foods. My grandmother had diabetes.(she's passed on now.)My mother has under-active thyroid disorder.I have over-active thyroid disorder. And I had no choice in taking the radio-active pill(s).The doctor told me I had no choice and I HAD to take it;so I took it.Despite me telling him that I wanted 2 find another way to treat the disease first he said I still had to do the radioactive radiation therapy anyway.Rhetorically what do u do?
Take your doctors advice I have tried all the naturopath bullshit it does not work. You'll end up harming yourself. Have a thorough talk to him about naturopathic medicine and he will explain it to you.
I will add that it does take time for these changes to take place. I was constipated for years, and once I began eating well and drinking plenty of water...I was still constipated! It took a number of different detoxification programs before I began moving by bowels on a daily basis, as I grew up eating junk food, and so it took time to correct this problem since I was eating this way for many years. So don't give up if it's been a few months, as it will take some time.
i prefer powders, orange juice is not actually good that for u - message me if you want to chat more about al this. use vit c or magnesium instead of laxatives they work the same way. and are better than nasty pharma meds..I have hypothyroidism and I have nothing but great things to say about synthyroid. Nasty pharma meds? Lol you're brain washing people.. The internet is where dumb people can spread their idiotic ideas. I have tried the naturopathic approach and I ended up hurting myself and nearly dying of a heart attack.well i would go for results if u bothered to have test.. as i said stop drinking tap water/taking pharma drugs, i just bought some powdered tyrosine that has worked really well..there are things you can do through educating yrself & getting herbal remedies from the health food shop instead of paying for someone to tell you what to take.. there are a number of factors to the thyroid issue, as it often causes hormonal /adrenal imbalances as well.. so u need to address all these areas.Lol you can't even spell yrself properly. "drinking tap water/taking pharma drug". I drink tap water and I have hypothyroidism. I've heard the argument that fluorine in the water causes hypothyroidism and aggravates the condition. In my personal experience I have never in my life felt that tap water is making my feel horrible/sluggish/depressed. You're basing your arguments on the bullshit studies all over the internet. I take synthyroid and I feel great.i would have a massage if i were you. sounds like you have an accumulation of energy blocks.. then start the treatment.. exercise generates energy, so sometimes its good to push through it.. what is in the tablets the naturopath gave you?"exercise generates energy, so sometimes its good to push through it" Is that the type of advice you would give to someone who is malnourished? LMAO EXERCISE!? Is that the type of advice you would give to someone who is starving? You're full of bull shit. "thyroid issues = communication issues" Starvation = communication issues as well? "there is a mind pattern behind every ailment." So you're telling me that you can beat starvation/live without food for more than 1 year by just changing your mind pattern? Are you stupid? Starvation is the simplest of ailments lol (the body not getting what it needs; basically your definition of ailment correct?). You can't justify saying every ailment has a mind pattern behind it if you can't prove yourself in the simplest of cases.
there are plenty of things you can do for starvation and the mind pattern behind malabsorption is not wanting to digest what you are learning in life. when you realise the mind, body and spirit correlation behind every ailment and take responsibility for it then you have better chance of recovery. if you blame others, or take conventional medicine, changes are you will not cure, just mask symptoms which will get worse over time. "there are plenty of things you can do for starvation and the mind pattern behind malabsorption is not wanting to digest what you are learning in life. " What? That does not make any sense. "when you realise the mind, body and spirit correlation behind every ailment and take responsibility for it then you have better chance of recovery. " Do you actually have a degree or university education to back up this nonsense?"if you blame others, or take conventional medicine, changes are you will not cure, just mask symptoms which will get worse over time." If scientists after rigorous laboratory experimentation and after checking the theory behind a chemical (we'll call it chemical A for sake of argument) have found that it cures ailment B, then why in the world would you think that it will not cure it? Just mask symptoms? Synthyroid has not masked my symptoms lol. Read my next post for proof. After taking synthroid I have grown and gained large amounts of muscle which I would not have otherwise gained without taking "conventional medicine". I can lift 90 lbs with a 45 lb bar with ease in my bench press; doesn't seem like any symptoms are being masked to me. I can jog/exercise and do whatever I want without feeling tired so I highly doubt any symptoms are being masked. wait ten years and then say that! you will be on that for life, because your thyroid will no longer make the hormones naturally. of course you will gain muscle when working out. i can work out with low thyroid too. and my method for cure is taking natural tyrosine and iodine and other things for hormones like wild yam and other herbs for kidney support. 2 SovereignBeing I've been on synthroid for 2 years and have not once experienced a bad symptom. "of course you will gain muscle when working out. i can work out with low thyroid too" I lost a lot of weight and lost a lot of muscle when I was not on the medication. No you can't workout with hypothyroidism because you will have no energy and your muscles will not have the thyroid necessary to grow. "you will be on that for life, because your thyroid will no longer make the hormones naturally" I had an ultrasound done and it was revealed to me by various experts that my thyroid gland has been destroyed by an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto's thyroiditis. You likely have this disorder too. No amount of healthy food can cure your hypothyroidism because your gland is already destroyed and is currently being attacked by your own immune system. So it wouldn't even matter if I decided to take your natural supplements because the gland is already destroyed and wouldn't be able to create it's own thyroid hormone; thus resulting in me most likely dying. Therefore your point is invalid."you will be on that for life, because your thyroid will no longer make the hormones naturally" AKA my thyroid gland does not create hormone so I need hormone. There is no way to make my gland create more hormone because it is already destroyed. You're basically telling someone without any legs to go for a jog, hoping that the legs will magically appear out of no where.right.. well if you want to go into semantics, the pituitary gland will no longer send the messages to the thyroid to make the hormones. because you are just feeding it with the synthetics."right.. well if you want to go into semantics, the pituitary gland will no longer send the messages to the thyroid to make the hormones. because you are just feeding it with the synthetics. " No, you're just using a generalized argument against me (if you don't exercise you won't get stronger or how using steroids will make your testicles smaller). Okay here is my argument against that (read next post).TSH- thyroid stimulating hormone is generally what blood tests for hypothyroidism are aimed to evaluate. The pituitary gland releases TSH. If your argument was correct than in the two years that I have used synthroid my TSH levels would have had to fall (for your argument to be correct). However my TSH levels HAVE NEVER gone down. They have only RISEN over the course of all the blood tests that I take. (which is every two-three months).Like I have already said. Our thyroid glands(mine and yours) have been destroyed due to an autoimmune disorder that you and I share. EVEN IF I decided to not take the "synthetic medication" my TSH levels would rise to a level where my thyroid gland would cause me to choke. Ever heard of a goiter? Look it up on google images. That's what happens when you leave hypothyroidism untreated. I would probably die of a heart attack before this (I have felt my heart failing on me.....when I was not on synthroid). I am telling you from experience. After a week of taking the medication for the first time you will experience sleep like you have felt before, it's like pure euphoria. Give it a try! Surely a week of taking this medication can't permanently hurt your pituitary gland correct? And if you don't you risk causing your pituitary gland damage due to the excess thyroid stimulating hormone that your gland has to produce to keep up normal thyroid funct. And if you don't you risk causing your pituitary gland damage due to the excess thyroid stimulating hormone that your gland has to produce to keep up normal thyroid function. This heavy amount of TSH will cause a goiter which will kill your thyroid gland-cells.
